Slow Cooker Savory Cube Steak Delight

Slow Cooker Savory Cube Steak Delight

Ingredients:

  • 6 cube steaks
  • 1 medium onion, peeled and sliced into rings
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 can cream of celery soup
  • 1 packet Lipton Onion Soup Mix (or low-sodium version)
  • 1/2 soup can of water
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for browning, optional)
  • Chopped fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Cube Steaks:
    • If time allows, season the cube steaks with salt and pepper. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Brown the cube steaks on both sides for a couple of minutes each until they get a golden crust. This step is optional but adds extra flavor.
  2. Layer in the Slow Cooker:
    • Place the browned cube steaks at the bottom of the slow cooker. Add sliced onions on top of the steaks.
  3. Mix the Soups:
    • In a bowl, combine the cream of chicken soup, cream of celery soup, Lipton Onion Soup Mix, and water. Mix until well combined.
  4. Pour Mixture Over Steaks:
    • Pour the soup mixture over the cube steaks and onions in the slow cooker, ensuring an even distribution.
  5. Set and Forget:
    • Set the slow cooker to low and cook for 6-8 hours or until the cube steaks are tender and cooked through. The long, slow cooking time allows the flavors to meld and the meat to become incredibly tender.
  6. Serve and Garnish:
    • Once done, taste and adjust the seasoning if needed. Serve the cube steaks over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles, spooning the flavorful sauce over the top. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired.
  7. Enjoy the Savory Goodness:
    • Dive into the savory delight of your slow-cooked cube steaks. The meat should be fork-tender, and the rich, flavorful sauce will have melded beautifully.

Note:

  • If you’re short on time, you can skip the browning step and place the raw cube steaks directly into the slow cooker.
  • Customize the dish by adding mushrooms, carrots, or bell peppers to the slow cooker for added depth and texture.
  • Serve with your favorite side dishes like mashed potatoes, rice, or buttered noodles.
