Seasoned Hamburgers

Kind of a neat tip for cooking hamburgers my husband has always said his mom would cook burgers in season d boiled water not very much just enough to cover bottom portion of burger season water to your liking bring to a light boil and cook it keeps the burgers super juicy while pushing out all the grease even when we went to Memphis last year I noticed his brother did the same while grilling burgers he would use a light spray bottle of water and spray on them it keeps them super moist and juicy but pushes out all the grease

Juicy Water-Seasoned Hamburgers

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80% lean, 20% fat recommended)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • Water (for boiling and spraying)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Water Seasoning Mixture:

  • In a small bowl, combine salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, dried oregano, and cayenne pepper. Adjust the seasonings according to your taste preferences.

2. Shape the Burger Patties:

  • Divide the ground beef into equal portions and shape them into burger patties. Season both sides of each patty with the prepared seasoning mixture.

3. Boil Water for the Water Bath:

  • Fill a pot with enough water to cover the bottom portion of the burgers. Bring the water to a light boil over medium-high heat.

4. Water Seasoning Bath:

  • Gently place the seasoned burger patties into the boiling water. Allow them to cook in the water bath for 3-5 minutes on each side. This will help seal in the juices and infuse the burgers with flavor.

5. Grill or Pan-Cook the Burgers:

  • Preheat your grill or pan over medium-high heat. Remove the burgers from the water bath and pat them dry with a paper towel. This step ensures a nice sear when cooking.

6. Cooking on the Grill or Pan:

  • Grill or pan-cook the burgers to your desired level of doneness, typically 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare. Use a meat thermometer to ensure they reach a safe internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).

7. Optional Water Spritz:

  • If you prefer, use a light spray bottle filled with water to occasionally spritz the burgers while cooking. This will help maintain moisture and prevent excessive grease.

8. Serve:

  • Serve the juicy water-seasoned burgers on your favorite buns with condiments and toppings of your choice. Enjoy the succulent and flavorful results of this unique cooking method!

This method promises burgers that are not only juicy but also infused with a delightful blend of seasonings. Experiment with the seasoning mixture to suit your taste preferences, and don’t forget to customize your toppings for the perfect burger experience!
