Creole Hamburger Rice Skillet
Ingredients:
- 1 box of Rice-A-Roni (chicken or beef flavor)
- 1 pound of ground hamburger meat
- 1 small can of peas and carrots (or preferred vegetables like green beans and corn)
- 1 tablespoon creole seasoning
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Water (according to Rice-A-Roni package instructions)
Instructions:
- Prepare Rice-A-Roni: In a large skillet, cook the ground hamburger meat over medium heat. Season the meat with creole seasoning while it cooks. Once the meat is fully cooked, remove any excess grease.
- Add Butter: Add the butter to the skillet with the cooked hamburger meat. Allow it to melt and coat the meat.
- Brown Rice: Add the contents of the Rice-A-Roni box to the skillet with the hamburger meat and butter. Stir continuously over medium heat until the rice begins to brown slightly and becomes aromatic, about 3-4 minutes.
- Incorporate Vegetables: Once the rice is lightly browned, add the canned vegetables (or your preferred vegetables) to the skillet. Stir well to combine.
- Add Water and Seasoning: Follow the instructions on the Rice-A-Roni box to determine the amount of water needed. Typically, this will be around 2 cups. Pour the water into the skillet and add the seasoning packet included with the Rice-A-Roni. Stir everything together until well combined.
- Simmer and Cook: Reduce the heat to low and cover the skillet. Allow the rice mixture to simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked through and the liquid has been absorbed. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Serve: Once the rice is cooked
