One-Pot Skillet Spaghetti with Ground Beef, Peppers, and Cheese

Ingredients:

1 pound (450g) ground beef
1 large onion, finely chopped
1 green bell pepper, diced
1 can (28 ounces/800g) whole peeled tomatoes, undrained
1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon chili powder (adjust to taste for spice level)
2 cups (480ml) water
8 ounces (225g) uncooked spaghetti
1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite blend)
Instructions:

Prepare the Skillet:
Heat a large skillet or deep pan over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until it’s browned and cooked through. Drain any excess fat if necessary.

Add Aromatics:
Add the finely chopped onion and diced green bell pepper to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are softened and the onion becomes translucent.

Tomato Base:
Pour in the undrained whole peeled tomatoes into the skillet. Use a spoon to break up the tomatoes into smaller pieces. Stir in salt, sugar, and chili powder. Let the mixture simmer for a few minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Add Spaghetti:
Pour in the water and break the uncooked spaghetti in half. Add the spaghetti to the skillet, ensuring it is submerged in the liquid. Stir gently to combine all the ingredients.

Simmer:
Reduce the heat to medium-low, cover the skillet, and let the mixture simmer for about 20-25 minutes, or until the spaghetti is fully cooked and has absorbed the flavors of the sauce. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking, and add a little more water if needed to cook the spaghetti to your desired consistency.

Cheese Topping:
Once the spaghetti is cooked, sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top. Cover the skillet again and let it sit for a few minutes until the cheese melts and becomes gooey and delicious.

Serve:
Remove the skillet from the heat and let it sit for a minute to allow the cheese to set slightly. Serve the one-pot skillet spaghetti hot, spooning it directly onto plates. Enjoy your easy and delicious homemade meal!
