Looking for a warm alternative to PB & J. Grilled PB! My maternal grandmother made this dating way back. PB, little butter creamed and add syrup. She used corn syrup but I like it with pancake syrup. Spread between bread and grill like grilled cheese.
I use dairy free butter and just spray Pam on the bread to grill.
Grilled PB & Maple Syrup Sandwich
Ingredients:
- 4 slices of your favorite bread (gluten-free if desired)
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 2 tablespoons dairy-free butter (or regular butter if preferred)
- Maple syrup or pancake syrup, to taste
- Cooking spray (such as Pam)
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, mix together the peanut butter and maple syrup until well combined. Adjust the amount of syrup to your taste preferences, adding more for a sweeter flavor.
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Spread a generous layer of the peanut butter and maple syrup mixture onto two slices of bread.
- Place the remaining two slices of bread on top to form sandwiches.
- Spread a thin layer of dairy-free butter on the outsides of each sandwich.
- Lightly coat the skillet or griddle with cooking spray.
- Carefully place the sandwiches onto the skillet or griddle and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the heat and let cool for a minute or two before serving.
- Slice the sandwiches diagonally and serve warm.
