French Onion Smothered Pork Chops

Ingredients:

  • 4 bone-in pork chops
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Nature seasoning (or a blend of herbs like thyme, rosemary, and garlic powder)
  • Ranch seasoning (optional, for added flavor)
  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups French fried onions

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Season the Pork Chops:
    • Season the pork chops with salt, pepper, nature seasoning, and ranch seasoning. Ensure the chops are evenly coated on both sides.
  3. Coat with Sour Cream:
    • Generously coat each pork chop with sour cream, ensuring an even layer. The sour cream adds richness and moisture to the dish.
  4. Layer with Shredded Cheddar:
    • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over each pork chop, covering them entirely. The cheese will melt and create a gooey, flavorful topping.
  5. Top with French Fried Onions:
    • Generously layer French fried onions on top of the cheese. The crispy onions will add a delicious crunch and French onion flavor.
  6. Arrange in Baking Dish:
    • Place the pork chops in a baking dish, ensuring they are not crowded. This allows even cooking and ensures a golden-brown crust.
  7. Bake in the Oven:
    • Bake the pork chops in the preheated oven for 45 minutes to an hour or until the internal temperature reaches a safe level for pork (at least 145°F or 63°C).
  8. Check for Doneness:
    • Ensure the pork chops are cooked through, and the cheese is melted and bubbly, while the French fried onions are golden brown.
  9. Serve Hot:
    • Remove the pork chops from the oven, let them rest for a few minutes, and then serve them hot.
  10. Optional Garnish:
    • Garnish with fresh herbs like chopped parsley for a burst of color and freshness.
  11. Pairing Suggestion:
    • Serve the French Onion Smothered Pork Chops with your favorite sides, such as mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, or a crisp green salad.
  12. Enjoy your Flavorful Creation:
    • Dive into the delicious combination of seasoned pork, creamy sour cream, melted cheddar, and crispy French fried onions. Each bite is a delightful blend of textures and flavors.
