Homemade Breakfast Bowl Delight

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups frozen hash browns (Great Value brand) – $2.24
  • 8 slices of black label center-cut bacon – $5.98
  • 1 lb Jimmy Dean sausage – $4.30
  • 14 large eggs – $2.66
  • 1 package country gravy mix – $0.97
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (your preferred variety) – $2.22
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Equipment:

  • Microwave-safe and freezer-safe storage bowls

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Hash Browns:
    • Cook the frozen hash browns according to the package instructions. Ensure they are crispy for added texture.
  2. Cook Bacon and Sausage:
    • In a skillet, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels. In the same skillet, cook the Jimmy Dean sausage until browned and cooked through. Crumble the cooked bacon.
  3. Scramble Eggs:
    • In a bowl, whisk the eggs and season with salt and pepper. Scramble the eggs in the skillet until just set. Avoid overcooking, as they will be reheated later.
  4. Prepare Country Gravy:
    • Mix the country gravy according to the package instructions. Cook until thickened. Set aside.
  5. Assemble Breakfast Bowls:
    • In each storage bowl, layer the ingredients: start with a portion of hash browns, followed by scrambled eggs, crumbled bacon, sausage, and a drizzle of country gravy. Top each bowl with shredded cheese.
  6. Cool and Seal:
    • Allow the bowls to cool before sealing them. Ensure they are freezer-safe and microwave-safe for convenience.
  7. Freeze for Later:
    • Seal the bowls and place them in the freezer. These breakfast bowls can be stored for up to a month. The flavors will meld and be ready for a quick morning meal.
  8. Reheating Instructions:
    • When ready to eat, remove a bowl from the freezer. Microwave on high for approximately 2 minutes. Stir and check the temperature. Continue microwaving in 30-second intervals until heated through.
  9. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Enjoy a delicious homemade breakfast bowl that’s not only budget-friendly but also customizable to suit your taste.
