Cheesy Sausage Muffins

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Bisquick mix
  • 4 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 pound ground sausage
  • Cooking spray

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage until it’s fully cooked and crumbly. Drain any excess fat and set it aside to cool slightly.
  3. Prepare the Muffin Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the Bisquick mix, beaten eggs, and salt. Mix until well combined.
  4. Add Cheese and Sausage: Gently fold in the shredded cheddar cheese and the cooked sausage into the batter. Ensure the cheese and sausage are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  5. Prepare Muffin Pan: Lightly spray a muffin pan with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  6. Fill the Muffin Pan: Spoon the muffin batter into the prepared muffin pan, filling each cup about 2/3 full.
  7. Bake: Place the muffin pan in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 20 minutes, or until the muffins are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool and Serve: Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve warm and enjoy!

The term “low carb” can mean different things to different people, but generally, a low-carb diet restricts daily carbohydrate intake to a certain number of grams. Whether or not a food item is considered low carb depends on the specific dietary guidelines you’re following.

In the case of the Cheesy Sausage Muffins recipe provided, the Bisquick mix contains carbohydrates, and although it’s just one cup spread across multiple servings, it does contribute to the overall carb content. The amount of carbs per muffin will depend on the specific brand of Bisquick mix you use, as different brands might have slightly different nutritional values.

If you are following a strict low-carb diet, it’s important to be mindful of the carb content in the ingredients you use. There are low-carb and keto-friendly baking mixes available that could be used as a substitute for the regular Bisquick mix. Additionally, you could explore recipes for homemade low-carb baking mixes using almond flour, coconut flour, or other low-carb flours.

Always check the nutrition labels of the ingredients you use and calculate the total carbohydrates to determine if a particular recipe fits within your dietary requirements.
