“Saw some folks asking about freezing corn on the cob. Here is the way I’ve been doing it for many years, after a long time old farmer told me how to get the best tasting frozen corn.
Peel away a few of the outer layers of shuck skins. Trim each end of the cob.
(See mine in pic) DO NOT blanch the corn. Put the corn straight into freezer bags or vaccum seal them, and freeze. When you’re ready to eat it, put it under running water & remove the shucks & silks. Then boil it for approx 15 minutes. You can also steam it, put on the grill in the shuck wrapped in aluminum foil or even microwave it. Perfect corn on the cob!!! It will taste like fresh picked. I’ve been doing it this way for many years & its never been soggy or gummy. Please….just try it. πŸ˜‹πŸ˜Š

Debra’s Perfect Frozen Corn on the Cob Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Fresh corn on the cob
  • Freezer bags or vacuum-seal bags

Instructions:

    • Seal the bags securely and label them with the date for reference.
  3. Freeze:
    • Lay the bags flat in the freezer to allow for easy stacking and quicker freezing.
    • Freeze the corn for several hours or until solid.
  4. Cooking the Frozen Corn:
    • When you’re ready to enjoy the corn, remove the desired number of cobs from the freezer.
    • Place the frozen corn under running water to thaw and remove the shucks and silks easily.
  5. Cooking Options:
    • Boiling: Bring a pot of water to a boil and cook the thawed corn for approximately 15 minutes.
    • Steaming: Steam the corn until heated through, usually around 15 minutes.
    • Grilling: Wrap the thawed corn in the shuck with aluminum foil and grill for a smoky flavor.
    • Microwave: Place the thawed corn on a microwave-safe plate and cook on high for 5-7 minutes.
  6. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Once cooked, serve the corn with your favorite toppings like butter, salt, and pepper.
