Breakfast-for-Dinner Breakfast Pizza Braid

Ingredients:

  • 1 pizza crust
  • 1 pound breakfast sausage
  • 6 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • Bacon (a few pieces, cooked and crumbled)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cook Breakfast Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until browned. Once cooked, drain excess grease and set aside.
  3. Scramble Eggs: In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk to make a scrambled egg mixture.
  4. Prepare Pizza Crust: Grease a baking sheet and lay out the pizza crust. Use a rolling pin to gently roll it out to your desired thickness.
  5. Assemble the Filling: Spread the cooked breakfast sausage evenly over the center of the pizza crust. Add the crumbled bacon, scrambled egg mixture, and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  6. Create the Braid: Using a pizza cutter, make strips on each side of the filling. Crisscross each strip over the filling to create a braided pattern.
  7. Bake: Place the assembled pizza braid in the preheated oven. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Let It Rest: Remove the breakfast pizza braid from the oven and let it sit for a few minutes to allow the cheese to set. This makes it easier to cut and serve.
  9. Serve: Cut the breakfast pizza braid into slices and serve warm. Enjoy your delicious breakfast-for-dinner creation!

Feel free to customize the recipe by adding your favorite breakfast ingredients such as diced vegetables, mushrooms, or different types of cheese to make it even more personalized.

Here are some tips to make the Breakfast-for-Dinner Breakfast Pizza Braid even more delicious and hassle-free:

  1. Preheat Oven Properly: Ensure that your oven is fully preheated before baking. This helps the pizza crust cook evenly and achieve a golden-brown color.
  2. Roll Out Pizza Dough Evenly: Take your time to roll out the pizza crust evenly. This ensures that the braid is uniform in thickness, allowing for consistent baking.
  3. Use Quality Breakfast Sausage: Choose a high-quality breakfast sausage for the best flavor. You can experiment with different types, like maple or spicy sausage, to add extra depth to the dish.
  4. Customize the Filling: Feel free to customize the filling with your favorite ingredients. Add diced vegetables, sautéed mushrooms, or even a touch of hot sauce to enhance the flavors.
  5. Properly Drain Sausage: After cooking the breakfast sausage, make sure to drain excess grease. This prevents the pizza crust from becoming soggy and helps maintain a good texture.
  6. Adjust Egg Mixture Consistency: Pay attention to the consistency of the scrambled egg mixture. It should be slightly runny as it will continue to cook in the oven, preventing the eggs from becoming dry.
  7. Be Creative with Cheese: Experiment with different types of cheese or a combination of cheeses for added flavor. Pepper jack, mozzarella, or feta can complement the dish well.
  8. Let It Rest Before Cutting: Allow the Breakfast Pizza Braid to rest for a few minutes after baking. This makes it easier to cut into slices without the filling spilling out.
  9. Serve with Condiments: Accompany the pizza braid with condiments like salsa, hot sauce, or even a dollop of sour cream for extra flavor.
  10. Make Ahead: If you’re short on time during the week, you can prepare components of the pizza braid in advance. Cook the sausage and bacon, whisk the eggs, and store them separately in the refrigerator until you’re ready to assemble and bake.
  11. Double the Recipe: If you’re serving a crowd or want leftovers, consider doubling the recipe. Leftover slices can be reheated for a quick and tasty breakfast the next day
