Davy Crockett Sandwich
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 white onion, chopped
- 1 can (10 oz) Rotel tomatoes with green chilies
- 4 oz Velveeta cheese, cubed
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- Minced garlic (optional)
- 6-7 hamburger buns, toasted
Instructions:
- In a large skillet, brown the chopped onion (and minced garlic, if using) over medium heat until softened.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet with the onions and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks.
- Once the beef is browned, drain any excess grease or water from the skillet.
- Stir in the can of Rotel tomatoes with green chilies, including the liquid. Cook for a few minutes until heated through.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the cubed Velveeta cheese to the skillet and stir until melted and well combined with the beef mixture.
- Pour in the cream of mushroom soup and stir until everything is evenly coated and heated through.
- Remove the skillet from the heat.
- Toast the hamburger buns until golden brown.
- Spoon the hearty Davy Crockett mixture onto the bottom halves of the toasted buns.
- Place the top halves of the buns over the filling to complete the sandwiches.
