Salisbury Steak-Inspired Baked Cube Steak

Ingredients:

  • 1 pack cube steak
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 packet brown gravy mix
  • 1 envelope beefy onion soup mix
  • 1 can water (use the cream of mushroom can)
  • Foil for covering

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a glass baking dish, place the cube steaks in a single layer.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, brown gravy mix, beefy onion soup mix, and water. Mix until well combined.
  4. Pour the mixture over the cube steaks in the baking dish, ensuring they are evenly coated.
  5. Cover the baking dish with foil, sealing it tightly to keep the steam in.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 3 hours without peeking. This slow cooking process will make the cube steaks super tender and flavorful.
  7. Once done, carefully remove the foil, and check the tenderness of the cube steaks. They should be fork-tender and infused with delicious flavors.
  8. Serve the Salisbury steak-inspired cube steaks over mashed potatoes or rice, spooning the rich gravy over the top.
  9. Enjoy the hearty and comforting flavors of this slow-baked dish with your favorite side dishes.

Note: The key to the success of this recipe is the slow cooking process, so resist the temptation to peek during baking to ensure the cube steaks become incredibly tender.
