Smoked Sausage Hashbrown Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag (about 30 oz) frozen hashbrowns with peppers and onions
  • 2 small cans or 1 large can (about 21 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 package (about 14 oz) smoked sausage, sliced
  • 1 bag (about 2 cups) shredded cheese (cheddar or a blend)
  • Salt and pepper to taste (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Crockpot: Grease the inside of your crockpot to prevent sticking.
  2. Layer Hashbrowns: Pour the entire bag of frozen hashbrowns into the crockpot, creating an even layer.
  3. Add Smoked Sausage: Cut the smoked sausage into bite-sized pieces and place them on top of the hashbrowns.
  4. Pour Cream of Chicken Soup: Spread the cream of chicken soup over the sausage and hashbrowns. Ensure an even distribution.
  5. Mix Ingredients: Gently mix the hashbrowns, sausage, and soup until well combined. This will help distribute the flavors throughout the casserole.
  6. Add Shredded Cheese: Sprinkle about 3/4 of the shredded cheese over the mixture in the crockpot.
  7. Cook in Crockpot: Set the crockpot to high and cook for 2 to 3 hours or on low for 4 hours. The casserole is ready when the hashbrowns are tender and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Serve: Once cooked, give the casserole a gentle stir, ensuring the melted cheese coats the hashbrowns and sausage evenly. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if desired.
  9. Garnish and Enjoy: Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top as a garnish. Serve the Smoked Sausage Hashbrown Casserole hot, and enjoy this comforting Fall meal.

Note: Feel free to customize this recipe by adding diced bell peppers, onions, or other vegetables for extra flavor and texture. This easy-to-make casserole is perfect for a cozy Fall dinner or a weekend brunch.
