Bacon-Wrapped Air Fryer Hot Dogs with Chili and Cheese
Ingredients:
- 4 beef or pork hot dogs
- 8 slices of bacon
- 1 cup chili (homemade or canned)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 hot dog buns
- Optional toppings: diced onions, chopped cilantro, sour cream
Instructions:
- Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (190°C).
- Take each hot dog and wrap it with two slices of bacon, ensuring the ends are secured. You can use toothpicks if necessary.
- Place the bacon-wrapped hot dogs in the preheated air fryer basket, making sure they are not touching each other.
- Cook the hot dogs in the air fryer for 6-7 minutes, turning them halfway through the cooking time. Keep a close eye on them to prevent the hot dogs from exploding. Adjust the cooking time based on your air fryer’s model and the desired crispiness of the bacon.
- While the hot dogs are cooking, warm the chili either on the stove or in the microwave.
- Once the bacon-wrapped hot dogs are cooked, carefully remove them from the air fryer.
- Place each bacon-wrapped hot dog in a bun and spoon a generous amount of chili over the top.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top of the chili.
- Optionally, add diced onions, chopped cilantro, and a dollop of sour cream for extra flavor.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your delicious bacon-wrapped hot dogs with chili and cheese!
Optional Variation with Grilled Peppers and Onions:
If you prefer the alternative version with grilled bell peppers and onions, follow these additional steps:
- Slice bell peppers and onions into thin strips.
- In a separate pan, sauté the bell peppers and onions until they are tender and slightly caramelized.
- Grill the bacon-wrapped hot dogs as per the main instructions.
- Instead of chili, spread a layer of mayonnaise on the inside of the hot dog buns.
- Place the bacon-wrapped hot dogs in the buns, and top them with the sautéed bell peppers and onions.
- You can still add shredded cheddar cheese and any other desired toppings.
- Serve and enjoy your alternative version of bacon-wrapped hot dogs with grilled bell peppers and onions!
