My son’s weekend food bag from school has saved us many times when funds and food were low. Tonight we’re having this pasta and I’m gonna warm the chicken in a skillet. I’m thinking green beans as a side since we don’t have broccoli. And it all came from his weekend food bag from school. Just wanted something simple and quick tonight. So here it is
Weekend Food Bag Pasta with Chicken and Green Beans
Ingredients:
- 1 cup pasta (any shape)
- 1 cup cooked chicken (from the weekend food bag)
- 1 cup green beans
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions:
- Cook the Pasta: In a pot of boiling salted water, cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Prepare the Green Beans: Trim the ends of the green beans and rinse them under cold water. You can steam or boil them until tender-crisp, about 4-5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Warm the Chicken: Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a tablespoon of olive oil. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Then add the cooked chicken and sauté until heated through, about 3-4 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Combine Everything: In the same skillet with the chicken, add the cooked pasta and green beans. Drizzle with another tablespoon of olive oil and toss everything together until well combined and heated through.
- Serve: Transfer the pasta, chicken, and green beans to serving plates. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.
