Turmeric-Spiced Mince and Tatties with Macaroni

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (450g) hamburger meat
  • 1 box (7.25 oz / 206g) macaroni
  • 3 carrots, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • Instant potatoes (enough for 4 servings)
  • Powdered gravy mix
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric (optional, for color and flavor)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Water or broth (as required)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Mince:
    • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the diced onion until translucent, about 3-5 minutes.
    • Add the hamburger meat to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks.
    • Once the meat is browned, add diced carrots to the skillet and cook for another 5-7 minutes until they begin to soften.
  2. Cook the Macaroni:
    • In a separate pot, cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Make the Instant Potatoes:
    • Prepare the instant potatoes according to package instructions, making enough for 4 servings. You can use water or broth for added flavor.
  4. Prepare the Gravy:
    • In a small saucepan, prepare the powdered gravy mix according to package instructions. You can adjust the consistency and flavor to your liking by adding more or less water.
  5. Combine:
    • Once everything is cooked, mix the cooked hamburger meat and carrots with the prepared gravy in the skillet. Stir well to combine and season with salt and pepper to taste. Optionally, add turmeric for color and flavor.
