Hamburger and Rice Casserole
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
2 cups (370 g) uncooked long-grain white rice
2 cans (10.5 ounces each) French onion soup
2 cans (10.5 ounces each) beef consomme
½ cup (113 g) unsalted butter, sliced into pats
Chopped chives, for garnish (optional)
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
Brown the ground beef in a medium skillet over medium heat until no longer pink, about 8-10 minutes; drain excess grease.
Layer the cooked beef in the baking dish, top evenly with the uncooked rice.
Pour over the French onion soup and beef consomme; stir gently to combine.
Distribute butter slices evenly over the top. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
Remove foil and continue baking for another 30 minutes, or until rice is tender.
Garnish with chopped chives before serving, if desired.
