Deviled Strawberries

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of strawberries (about 16 ounces)
  • 1 package of cream cheese (8 ounces), softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Graham cracker crumbs for garnish
  • Optional: white chocolate for drizzling

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Strawberries:
    • Rinse the strawberries thoroughly under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
    • Slice off the stem end of each strawberry to create a flat base. Then, using a small paring knife or a strawberry huller, carefully hollow out the center of each strawberry to create a small cavity. Be sure not to cut through the bottom of the strawberry.
  2. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat the mixture with a hand mixer or a stand mixer until smooth and well combined. You can also do this by hand using a sturdy spatula, but make sure the cream cheese is thoroughly softened for easier mixing.
  3. Fill the Strawberries:
    • Transfer the cream cheese mixture into a Ziploc bag. Seal the bag and snip off a small corner at the bottom to create a makeshift piping bag.
    • Carefully pipe the cream cheese mixture into the hollowed-out strawberries, filling each one generously. Alternatively, you can use a small spoon to fill the strawberries if you don’t have a piping bag.
  4. Optional: Drizzle with White Chocolate:
    • If desired, melt the white chocolate in a heatproof bowl either in the microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, or using a double boiler on the stove.
    • Once melted, drizzle the white chocolate over the filled strawberries using a spoon or by transferring the melted chocolate into a small Ziploc bag and cutting off a tiny corner to create a piping bag.
  5. Garnish and Serve:
    • Sprinkle graham cracker crumbs over the filled strawberries for added flavor and texture.
    • Arrange the deviled strawberries on a serving platter and chill them in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the filling to set.
    • Serve chilled and enjoy as a delightful dessert or sweet snack!

Note: These deviled strawberries can be prepared ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to a few hours before serving. If making in advance, wait to garnish with graham cracker crumbs until just before serving to maintain their crispness
