Cheeseburger Ziti Casserole Recipe
Servings: 6-8
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb ziti pasta (or any similar pasta shape)
- 1 pint (2 cups) heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup diced onions
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional toppings: chopped green onions, sliced jalapeños, diced pickles
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onions and minced garlic, and sauté until fragrant and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add ground beef to the skillet with the onions and garlic. Cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until the beef is browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- While the beef is cooking, cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, shredded cheddar cheese, and shredded mozzarella cheese. Mix until well combined.
- In a large baking dish, spread a thin layer of the cream and cheese mixture on the bottom.
- Layer half of the cooked ziti pasta on top of the cream mixture in the baking dish.
- Spread half of the cooked ground beef evenly over the pasta layer.
- Pour half of the remaining cream and cheese mixture over the beef layer, spreading it out evenly.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining pasta, beef, and cream and cheese mixture.
- Top the casserole with diced tomatoes.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
- After 20 minutes, remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve hot, optionally garnished with chopped green onions, sliced jalapeños, or diced pickles.
